OLSON - Kenneth Ivor. November 8, 1925 - October 5, 2017. It is with great sadness that Ken's family announce his passing October 5, 2017 at the age of 91. Ken will be lovingly remembered by wife Norene, his son Don (Joanne), daughter Diane (Dave); two grandchildren Heidi (Eric) and Haley (Justin) and great-grandchildren; Fynn, Svea and Everly. Ken is also survived by his sister Sally and beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; Olaf and Anna Olson, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Ken was born on the family farm near Sturgis, SK. As a youth he worked on the farm and in logging camps. For five years he worked as a Lineman for Saskatchewan Government Telephones. In 1952 Ken found employment at Snow Lake, MB in the mine. Ken and Norene were married in December of that year and made Snow Lake home for 49 years. He worked as a Hoistman for HBM&S until retiring in 1987. Ken appreciated life in the north, enjoyed all the outdoor activities (was an avid fisherman and hunter), seasonal sports and valued the closeness of friends. In 2001 they relocated to Yorkton where old friendships were rekindled and many new ones made. Due to failing health Ken and Norene moved to Okotoks in 2014. The family enjoyed spending time together making cherished memories. Daily living in their community fostered new and treasured friendships. Our memories will echo with the sounds of Ken's singing and cheerful whistling. Ken's wishes have been honoured. No funeral will be held. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alberta Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice can be made in Ken's name. To email condolences please visit www.snodgrassfuneralhomes.com.
