Elmer David Ochtiwa, 1933-2012. Elmer, son of the late Michael and Antonia Ochitwa of Yorkton, SK, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on March 19 at his home in Lethbridge, AB. Elmer was born and grew up in Mikado, SK. He started his working career in the mining field in Lynn Lake, and Thompson, MB, and later in Potash Mining in Saskatoon. While with Sherritt Gordon Mines in Lynn Lake he met and married his wife, Gwen Gudgeon in 1960. Their son, Blair, was born in 1962. In 1981 Elmer established his own trucking company, Blair Enterprises, in Lethbridge, AB, which he enjoyed until his retirement. Elmer was a high energy, fun and adventure loving man, with a large and anchored personality. He pursued both work and play with a passion! Elmer loved reading, traveling, and most sports - many of which he indulged in - like wrestling, diving, hockey, jogging, hiking in Waterton and sailing in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Pacific. Beneath his brusque exterior he was a caring and compassionate man. His family, friends, and employees were very grateful he did not hesitate to help when a need arose. We, his family, remember fondly the family gatherings, events and reunions Elmer hosted at the Ponderosa Pines in Diamond City, AB. We cherish the memories of the miles we traveled, the trails we hiked and the mountains we climbed in his favorite Waterton-Glacier National Park. Elmer will continue to live in the hearts of his son Blair, his brothers Donald (Monica), and David (Deanne), his sisters Ruth Nelson, Eileen Palmer, and Connie (Evan) Philp and numerous nieces and nephews. Elmer was predeceased by his parents, his wife Gwen and his brother Clarence. Interment will take place at Yorkton Memorial Gardens and a celebration of his life will take place in August. Memorial Tributes may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
