Noreen Ochitwa of Hyas, SK, passed away at the William Booth Hospice in Regina, SK, on June 14, 2012, at the age of 76 years. Noreen was born on April 24, 1936, to Karl and Stephanie (Huber) Baer in Earl Grey, SK. As a young girl, Noreen attended the East Mount School until the age of nine. Her family moved to Silton, SK, where they operated a dairy farm. Noreen's first journey was to Regina where she was employed with Woolworth's as a cashier. In 1956, Noreen was united in marriage to Metro Ochitwa and they were blessed with two children: Beverly and Randy. Together they purchased farm land in Danbury, SK, and moved there in 1963. In 1987, when Metro became ill, they purchased a new home in Hyas. Noreen went to work at the Mackenzie Training Centre for ten years in Preeceville. When Metro was hospitalized from 1998 to 2005, Noreen spent all of her time with him until his passing. When she returned back to Hyas, she spent three years working for a Pitch Fork Fondue Mobile Restaurant. Noreen enjoyed many things in life, some are: gardening, knitting, crocheting and her speciality was cross stitching which she left each family member a memory. She loved and adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and helped them out whenever she could. Noreen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Stephanie; her husband Metro; her brother Ernie Baer; her sister Edith Schaefer and her sisters-in-law: Diana (Walter), Myrna (Harold) and Gloria (Ernie). She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Beverly Gay Lorenz; her son Randy Metro Ochitwa; her two grandsons, Russell (Tammy) Lorenz and Curtis Lorenz; her two great-grandsons Dane Kyle and Riley Metro Lorenz and her five brothers Charlie, Walter, Harold, Dennis and Kenny Baer. The Memorial Service of Remembrance was held on Saturday, June 23, 2012, held from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home, Canora, with Pastor Fred Schneider officiating. Interment of Cremated Remains will follow at a later date. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the William Booth Hospice as tokens of remembrance in memory of Noreen.
