Paul Blair Nestransky 1940 - 2011. Mr. Paul Blair Nestransky of Vulcan, AB passed away at Vulcan Extendicare on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the age of 71 years. He was born in Saskatoon, SK on August 9, 1940 to parents Helen and Paul Nestransky. Blair grew up in Yorkton, SK and attended Teacher's College in Regina and U of S, he completed his education degree through summer school. For many years Blair was a teacher and administrator with the Red Deer Public School Board and was well respected by students, parents and colleagues. Blair taught with the Department of National Defense in Germany for three years and later taught English at Brunei University. Blair was a avid sportsmen, curling in the winter and playing fastball in the summer. He had fond memories of curling in many European countries and of being "made" a curler in Scotland. Blair was very community minded serving on many committees; United Way, Recreation Board, ATA negotiations to name a few. After leaving Red Deer, he resided at Courtney, Vancouver Island for many years, then moved to Okotoks, AB and later to Vulcan, AB. Blair will be lovingly remembered by his children, Chad (Shauna) Nestransky and their children Kristian, Haylea and Jayden of Red Deer, AB, Caragh (Ed) McKain and their children Cheyenne (Keenan), and Kassidy of Innisfail, AB; the mother of his children, Isabella and two special great-grandchildren, Desmond and Raelynn; three sisters Elsa (Ken) Laxdal of Crystal Lake, SK, Clare (Lorne) Wladichuk of Tsawwassen, BC and Susan (John) Derijk of Okotoks, AB and many nieces and nephews. Blair was predeceased by his mother and father. A memorial service will be held at Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton Street, Red Deer, AB on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Blair's honor may be made directly to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, 271-339 50 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 2B3 or to United Way of Central Alberta, 4811 48 Street, Red Deer, AB T4N 1S6.
