Norman David Nerbas was born on the family farm 7 miles south of MacNutt in the R.M. of Churchbridge on January 22, 1925 to John Fred Nerbas and Dorothea (Dora) nee Mack, the sixth of eight children. Baptised at MacNutt Feb. 11, 1925. Confirmed: April 10, 1941 at Landrestreu, Confirmation verse: Jer 31, v3. Married to Mildred nee Mund Nov 20, 1953 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Langenburg, SK, celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary last November. They were blessed with three children. Dale, 1957 (Marlies), Don, 1961 (Val), Tammy, 1971 (Mike), 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grand children. Norman David Nerbas was born and raised on the family farm and fell in love with farming. In his younger years, he worked for some neighbouring farmers, while continuing to help out his parents. He attended Flower Valley school which was just east of the farm. After marrying the love of his life, Mildred, they took over the family farm as his parents retired. They had the dairy, beef, pigs, chickens and grain, a mixed operation. In 1960, a new farm house was built. There were always improvements to the farm like going from a crushing mill to a roller mill for feed. Going from square baling to round baling. In 1975, a milking machine was installed. Mom and Dad were active in social dances in the area. They loved music and dancing. They loved to socialize and did alot of entertaining at the farm. They were involved in the Christian faith with the Landrestreu congregation and later with Christ Lutheran Church, Langenburg. Dad was active as elder and trustee at Landrestreu. In 1994, Mom and Dad decided to hand the farming reins over to Dale and Marlies. They moved into a house in Langenburg where they resided until 2013, then moved to senior housing by the water tower until Dad moved to Langenburg care home in the spring of 2014. It took him quite a while to adjust to the new environment, but when he did, he was very content. He breathed his last around 4:30 p.m. January 10, 2018 at the age of 92 years, 11 months, 19 days. He is predeceased by his parents: Fred and Dora, his brothers: Edwin (Mandy), Emil (Della), Ewald (Emma), Albert (Edna), Gordon, sister, Elisabeth (Jack); nephew, Rod Nerbas, nieces, Trudy Nerbas, Beverly Davey; mother-in-law, Bertha (Geres) Mund, father-in-law, Christian Mund, sister in-law, Joan Mund. Surviving him are his wife: Mildred of Langenburg, sons, Dale of Langenburg (Marlies) {Melissa (Garnet) of Edmonton, Nikki (Devin) of Langenburg, Riley of Calgary}; Don of Yorkton (Val) {Cassandra, Brady}; daughter, Tammy of Yorkton (Mike) {Tyler, Eli and Patrick}. Great-grandchildren from Nikki and Devin {Alexa, Ava and Kylie]. Sister, Doreen of Churchbridge (Wilfred) sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Allan Hinde of Maidstone, brother-in-law, Earl Mund of Langenburg, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. You know in your heart that you were a friend of Norman. Funeral services were held January 20, 2018 from Christ Lutheran Church, Langenburg with Pastor A. Gust officiating. "Where the Roses never Fade" sung by Charlie Mintenko. Organist: Judy Hertlein. Committal Service held at Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery.
