Margaret (nee Balint) Molnar was born on May 12, 1916, the daughter of Rose (nee Gulash) and Stephen Balint at their family home in Otthon, SK. She received her education at the Otthon School, helped at home and worked in Yorkton, SK. before her marriage to George Paul Molnar on November 6, 1937. For the first year of their marriage they worked in the sugar beet fields in Taber, AB. They returned to Saskatchewan and began farming in the Armstrong School District where they continued to farm for 21 years. Margaret and George were blessed with two daughters, Gwendolyn and Hazel. Margaret was very involved in her community. She belonged to the Women's Co-operative Guild, she enjoyed curling and above all, was an avid gardener. She always had a beautiful yard full of flowers and shared this bounty with the community in many ways. Margaret was a wonderful cook and truly enjoyed Hungarian cooking. Her hospitality was appreciated by both family and friends. Margaret was an accomplished seamstress and sewed everything from coats to wedding dresses. She was a master at making "something out of nothing". Margaret also enjoyed knitting and embroidery. Margaret farmed along side her husband until 1960, when they sold their land and purchased the Redwood Motel in Yorkton. They enjoyed this endeavour until 1965 when they retired. However, Margaret's greatest joy through life was her family - her husband, her daughters, her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as extended family members of friends. Margaret passed away at St. Paul's Lutheran Home in Melville, SK. where she had resided since October of 2007. She was lovingly cared for by wonderful caregivers. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Rose Balint; her loving husband of 66 years, George; her brothers, Stephen, Frank (Stella), John, Martin and sisters, Theresa (John) Sliz, Matilda (Edwin) Czinkota and Grace (Ken) Schmuland.
