Valletta Dora Miskolczi passed away in the Wallace House at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home in Yorkton, SK. She had resided there since September of 2011. She was 90 years of age. Valletta will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Karen, Brenda (Leigh) and Sandra (Leslie); her daughter-in-law, Leanne; her sister-in-law, Shirley Mountney; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her niece, Marion (Ken) Dunn and friends, Gloria Mandzuik and Gordon Gabert as well as several nephews and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Augusta (nee Clark) Mountney; husband, John; her son, David; her sisters, Geneva and Alice and her brothers, Irwin, Gerald and Alan. Valletta was born on April 4, 1921 and she attended Good Hope School. On December 27, 1945 she married John Miskolczi and the couple was blessed with four children, Sandra, Karen, Brenda and David. They started their married life farming in Waldron, eventually moving with Valletta's parents to the Ashton area in the late 1940's. They ran a mixed farming operation and milked many cows for a number of years before going into all grain farming. Valletta was very proud of her large vegetable gardens on the farm. She and John retired from farming in 1975 and moved into Yorkton in 1994. While John was still alive, he and Valletta loved to go on camping trips - fishing, picking wild berries and enjoying nature. Valletta's hands were always busy - sewing, knitting (especially siwash sweaters), bead work and shell work as well as many other crafts. Her family wish to express their gratitude to the staff of the Wallace House at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave Valletta. Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 27, 2012 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Milo Spooner Craig officiating. The organist was Carla Laycock. A special taped music selection of "Amazing Grace" as sung by Susan Boyle was played. The recessional music was "Beyond the Sunset". While all those who shared in Valletta's life were invited to serve as the honourary pallbearers, her Granddaughter, Crystal Graham served as the urn bearer.
