Mrs. Rose Minke of Aspen Bluffs Villa in Yorkton passed away on December 2, 2011. She was 87 years of age. Rose was born in October 4, 1924 near Springside, SK to parents Gustav and Elsie Mantay. She was raised on a farm and attended Crossroads School. In 1945 Rose married David Minke and lived on the Minke family farm for 60 years. Together they raised two daughters. At an early age Rose accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. She was active in church work, first at West Ebenezer Baptist Church and later at Springside Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and avid gardener. In 2006 David and Rose moved to Aspen Bluffs Villa in Yorkton, SK. After 61 years of marriage, David passed away in February 2007. Rose continued to live at Aspen Bluffs for nearly five more years. Rose is predeceased by her parents and her husband. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters Joan (Mike) Salinger and Audrey Escalante; three grandchildren, David (Kerry), Sandra (Lee), and Miriam; four great grandchildren, Ezri, Ryan, Daniel and Ashley. Rose also leaves to mourn her seven siblings, Vera Rosom, Evelyn Klause, Lawrence (Hilda) Mantay, Frances (Donald) Neibrandt, Betty Mantay, Dorothy (Elvin) Haller and Gladys (David) Kneller, several sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Saturday, December 10 at Springside Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Kirsch officiating. The scripture was read by Pastor Mike Anderson. The organist, Loreen Tillman and pianist, Jeanette Kriger led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "God Will Take Care of You". The soloist, Brenda Kramer sang "Sweet By and By". A poem tribute was given by Miriam Escalante. Reflections of Rose's life were shared by daughter, Joan Salinger and sister, Betty Mantay. The interment followed in the Springside Town Cemetery with David Vega, Ron Minke, Sidney Mantay, David Rosom, Darrel Minke and Howard Goltz serving as the casket bearers.
