Frank Miles, beloved husband of Patricia Miles, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Monday, December 26, 2011 at his home with his wife at his side. Frank was born November 19, 1932 to Walter and Evelyn (Frappier) Miles on the family farm near Debden, SK. Frank's early employment experience was as an operator of a mixed farm, operator of a sawmill, operator of a flour mill warehouse, building construction and working in a nickel smelting plant. He was also employed as a grain buyer for the Searle Grain Company for two years. Grain handling caused the development of permanent lung disease leading him to seek other employment. Frank then worked for five years as a Guard for the Penitentiary Services of Canada in Prince Albert, SK. He joined the RCMP as a Special Constable where he was responsible for and in charge of the RCMP Provost Section for the Yorkton Sub Division for 12 years. After leaving the RCMP, Frank worked for the Provincial Government as a Judicial Officer in Yorkton and Regina for 17 years until his retirement. Frank had a love of music and had a beautiful singing voice. He was an accomplished horseman and dog handler and enjoyed working with his horses and dogs and in later years his cats. Frank enjoyed outdoor sports especially camping, fishing and hunting and would "get in shape" for hunting season by weight lifting and hiking and jogging with a 50 pound back pack. He loved to read, his favourite being his collection of Louis L'Amour books. In 2000 Frank suffered a heart attack and in 2007 he was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. He also had both hips replaced twice and in 2009 had a second heart attack at which time he had to have a pacemaker implanted. Through all his suffering he never lost his sense of humour and never complained. He had a quick wit and would get a twinkle in his eye when he told you one of his "stories". Frank was predeceased by his father and mother, Walter and Evelyn Miles; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Patrick and Elsie Fernets; and his brother-in-law, Marcel Lajeunesse. Frank leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his beloved wife of 45 years Patricia Miles; his children and their spouses, Russell (Penny) Miles of Saskatoon, SK, Karen (Robert) Dahl of Calgary, AB, Steven Miles of Sicamous, BC; Daniel (Myrna) Miles of Saskatoon, SK; his grandchildren, Marlee, Travis, Ashly, Jordan and Evan; his sisters, Lillian (Francis) Lueke of Invermay, SK and May Lajeunesse of Debden, SK; his brother-in-law, Curtis (Debralee) Fernets of Calgary, AB and all their families. Frank also leaves many other relatives and his many friends. A service to honour and celebrate Frank's life will be held at a later date. Those so wishing memorials to honour Frank's life may make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Lung Association of Saskatchewan or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
