Jack Michael was born on June 22, 1927 on the family farm. He was the oldest of 3 children born to Frank and Olive (nee Turberfield) Michael. In 1941 they moved to the family farm in the crescent district. He attended Aston and Crescent schools from Grades 1 through 9. Later he attended the University of Saskatchewan for 2 years and received his Agricultural Diploma in 1948. He then returned to the family farm to put his education into practice. On October 5, 1951 he married the love of his life - Mabel Ruth Allin. They had 5 children Derry, Donna, Marlene, Elaine and Joann. Jack was a dairy farmer until 1973 and then went into beef cattle and grain farming. He spent most of his life working on the farm where he was happiest. He remained active on the farm until late 2009. Some of the many boards he served on were the Waldron Beef Club, Yorkton Dairy Club, Milk Control Board, Farm Labour Board and the Hilltop Curling Rink Board. He served on the Yorkton Fair Board for over 25 years and was a founding member of the Crescent Lake Community Pasture Board. Jack passed away peacefully with his family at his side on August 15, 2012. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Frank and Olive Michael; his mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Grace Allin and his daughter Elaine Chesney. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his beloved wife Mabel, his son Derry and family Jade (Michael), Shaun (Dakota) and Kelly; his daughter Donna; his daughter Marlene (Rick) and their family Corey (Katelyn, Connor, Matthew), Shannon, Brad (Lesleigh); Elaine's children Kirsten ( Brandyn), Kylie (Kevin) and their family Danica and Declan, and Kole; his youngest daughter Joann (Rick) and family Dustin (Skye) and Mike. He also leaves his precious companion and friend his dog Ory. Jack is also survived by his sisters Clara and Shirley; aunt Tressie Malone and numerous relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home with Rev. Faye Greer officiating. Musical CD Selections, "You Raise Me up" and "Wind Beneath My Wings" sung by Daniel O'Donnell were played. A private family Interment Service took place at the Yorkton City Cemetery with Jack's grandsons; Brad Markham, Shaun Michael, Kole Chesney and Kelly Michael serving as urnbearers.
