MEGYESI - Barbara Mae Clemens began her life on July 25, 1946 at Carlyle, SK, the second daughter of Merle (nee Whiting) and Paul Clemens. She grew up west of Redvers with her Mom, sister and two brothers. Her father was tragically killed in a farming accident when she was five. Barbara attended school in Redvers and was active in track and field. Barbara was married to Roger Petit on July 10, 1962. They moved to Esterhazy, SK where they were blessed with six children, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and camping. They separated in 1979 and she moved to Yorkton with four of the children. Barbara then returned to school to obtain her grade 12 diploma and upon graduation enrolled in the Business Education Course where she graduated with distinction. Barb married George Thomas on June 25, 1983 and they enjoyed 15 years together with lots of joy and laughter until his passing in May of 1998. Barb again found companionship and married Joe Megyesi in April of 2011, she was deeply saddened by his passing in December 2011. Barb leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her children, Maureen Porter, with her children, Tasha (Mark) Lauer (daughters, Destiny and Madison) Samantha, Lorne and Alex; Simone (Brad) Balaski with their children, Melissa, Christopher, Michael and David; Lawrence (Shelly) Petit with their children, Renee (Cory) Smith (daughter, Annabella), Josie and Ashley; Deirdre (Darcy) Peters with their children, Joshua, Stephanie and Tiffany; Bernice (Darcy) Ruf with their children, Nathan and Ryan and Catherine (Wade) Stanhope with their children, Matthew and Kimberly. Barb is also survived by her brothers; David (Deb) Clemens, with sons, David (Shannon) and Doug (Shannon) and Howard Clemens; her sister Margaret (Walter) Brown, and children, Charlene (Jamie) Chapman (and family), Faye (Jeremy) Young (and family) and Anthony Brown as well as other family members and numerous friends. Barb's passion was creating. She liked to read and write. She was an incredible seamstress, dressmaker, drapery maker and enjoyed doing all types of crafts. She loved to make things for her children and grandchildren. She had several careers throughout, her favorite being a drapery seamstress. Barb's final words: "To all my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends - I love you all and hope to see you all in heaven. God bless every one of you." Funeral Services took place in the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home, Yorkton, SK on Friday, March 9, 2012 with The Reverend Luanne Hrywkiw officiating. The organist, Carla Laycock led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", "I Surrender All" and "Jesus Loves Me". Melissa Baliski remembered her grandmother in tribute and eulogy. Poetic tributes were shared by granddaughter, Kimberly Stanhope and daughter, Deirdre Peters. Barbara's daughters, Catherine Stanhope and Maureen Porter gave the readings. The service was closed with the Nunc Dimittis. The interment service took place at the Yorkton City Cemetery with Matthew Stanhope, Joshua Peters, Nathan Ruf, Ryan Ruf, Lorne Porter, Michael Balaski, Christopher Balaski and David Balaski serving as the casket bearers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
