Beloved Wife, Daughter, Mother and Grandmother, Gail, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, August 5, 2012 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 57 years of age. Born to Len and Betty Tatton of the Perley District, southwest of Saltcoats, she started school at Perley, then went to Saltcoats School and graduated from the Yorkton Regional High School in 1972. She married Tom McIntyre in Saltcoats on November 18, 1972 when Gail was 17 and Tom was 18. Their first son, Michael was born on November 2, 1973 and the family welcomed their second son, Jeffry on October 8, 1976. Tom and Gail shared everything with each other, included their birthday of December 1, Tom exactly one year older. Gail's family meant everything to her and part of her died along with her youngest son, Jeff on March 12, 1995 when he was only 18 years old. Gail was very musically talented, she played piano, accordion and guitar, and loved to sing. Gail didn't work outside of the home when her children were pre-school age, but gained employment as Saltcoats School's first ever secretary, initially working for principal, Walter Farquharson, then for many years with Fred Nicholson. Gail considered this the perfect job, working when her children were in school and home when there was no school. She also enjoyed working around children everyday. Her fun and companionship with the Saltcoats School staff was something she loved, the people she worked with there were still among her best friends. After 19 years at the school, Gail left to help her husband, Tom try to establish a grocery business in Saltcoats. This was short lived, due to a diagnosis of cancer in 2001. After surviving extensive chemotherapy and being unable to work, Gail did her best to stay healthy, and therefore developed her next passion in life - golf. Tom and Gail became members at the Sunnyside Golf Course in Bredenbury where Gail took up the game at the age of 50. They spent the next seven summers golfing at courses all over Saskatchewan, Manitoba and North Dakota and even once in the Dominican Republic at Punta Cana on one of their many winter vacations. They played indoor golf at Cymbob's in Yorkton, every Monday all winter long. Gail kept a logbook of every game she played, her last entry was dated June 5, 2012, exactly two months before she died. Her entry read, "played 9 holes at Bredenbury today, Gail unable to golf much, but sure had fun". Gail was predeceased by her father, Len in 2005; her sister-in-law, Sandy in 1977; her parents-in-law, Jack McIntyre in 2008 and Jean McIntyre in 1993 and her beloved son, Jeffry in 1995. She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband of almost 40 years, Tom; her mother, Betty Tatton; her son, Michael (Krissa) and her three special grandchildren, Brenna, Zachary and Avery. She also leaves her brother, Terry (Bonnie) and their children, Jennifer, Daniel (Marie-Lise) and Melanie (Kris); brother-in-law, Dave (Nancy) and their children, Garett (Tracy) and Jason (Chantelle) and their five grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from the Saltcoats Community Hall in Saltcoats, SK with Reverend Walter Farquharson officiating. The organist, Ruth Datema and pianist, Lorne Neal led the congregation and members of the United Church Choir in the singing of the hymns, "In The Bulb There Is A Flower" and "Would You Bless Our Homes and Families". The Choir Selection was "In the Garden". Words of tribute, eulogy and memory were shared by Daniel Tatton and Fred Nicholson. The Interment Service followed in the Saltcoats Town Cemetery with Glenn Parsons, Shaun Parsons, Carmen Parsons, Dave Liepert, Grant Bjornerud and Daniel Tatton serving as casket bearers.
