Georgette Marie Martin (Dube) 1933 ~ 2012 Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend, Georgette Marie Martin, 79, found peace and comfort on Sunday, September 23, 2012, with her family by her side. Georgette, the eldest child of Lucien and Martha Dube, was born on February 28, 1933 in Perigord, Saskatchewan, and moved with her family to The Pas, MB at the age of 7 years, speaking only French at that time. She grew up in The Pas and helped raise her 10 siblings. Georgette attended Sacred Heart School and worked at several jobs, including Parker's Grocery Store, Eaton's, Simpson Sears, Steel Gas, CFI
Realty, and Manfor Lumber (accounting department). It was in the Pas she met the love of her life, her "darling", Robert (Bob) Ernest Martin. While they were dating, Georgette was admiTted to the hospital in Ninette, MB for the treatment of tuberculosis. Bob made many trips to Ninette to spend time with her during the 8 months she was there. Once she returned to the Pas, Georgette and Bob planned their wedding and were married at The Guy Hall on January 31, 1955. They raised their family in The Pas and eventually moved to Melville, SK in 1978. After Bob retired, they became Snow Birds and made
many happy memories wintering in Texas. In 1990, they moved to their beautiful home at Good Spirit Acres, where they met wonderful friends and enjoyed golfing together.
Georgette was predeceased by her son, Gerald; her parents, Martha and Lucien Dube; sister, Andrea; brother, Norman; parents-in-law, Fred and Millicent (Millie) Martin and brothers-in-law, Fred, Darrell, and Cameron. Georgette is survived by her husband, Robert; son, Greg (Sylvia) Martin; daughter, Andrea (Jasper) Robinson; grandchildren, Terry (Jeff) Bryant, Quentin Robinson, Jeremy Robinson, Chris Martin, Garrett (Samantha) Wiwcharuk, Lindsay (Kris) Phillips, Whitney Martin; great-grandchildren, Angel, Chloe, Peyton, and Theo. She is also survived by her sisters, Lou (Don) West, Jeannette (Phil) Jeffreys, Alice (George) Geswin, Claudette (Ed) Erdman; brothers, Norbert (Elaine) Dube, Andy (Carol) Dube, Bernard (Linda) Dube, and Ronald (Donna) Dube; sisters-in-law, Elvie Dube, Iris Martin and Mary Martin as well as many other relatives and friends, all of whom loved and admired her. Georgette's faith was important to her and she enjoyed attending church with her good friends. She was a member of The Lionelle's Club in The Pas for many years and enjoyed bonspieling, snowmobiling, camping and vacationing with family, playing cards, and numerous hobbies and crafts, including gardening and golf. She was a meticulous housekeeper and took great pride in her home and garden. She loved and cherished her family and friends deeply and was truly happy for the accomplishments of others. She was a nurturer at heart, was generous, kind and giving, and took pleasure in making others happy. Georgette loved life and always enjoyed a gettogether or party with friends. She was a devoted wife and mother, loving grandmother and friend; her bright smile, laughter, and blue eyes were a ray of sunshine to all who knew her. Throughout her long and courageous battle with cancer, she never complained, remained strong and kept smiling, right to the end. When giving advice on relationships, she always said "never go to bed angry at each other" and this is something she lived by. Each night, she and Bob would give each other a kiss and say, "Good night, darling, I love you." On September 23, at 10:40 pm, her soulmate kissed her one last time and said, "Good night, darling, I love you." There are angels on Earth sent here to guide and teach us and Georgette was one of them. In accordance with Georgette's wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation and remembrance with the family was held at Good Spirit Acres, SK on Sunday, September 30, 2012. The Cremation Committal will take place at a later date in The Pas, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Health Foundation (41 Betts Avenue, Yorkton, SK, S3N 1M1) to be used in Palliative Care
at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre in Georgette's name. It was her wish to provide funding toward the purchase of a reclining chair in a palliative care room for the comfort of family members spending time with loved-ones. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
