Sid Lyzun, beloved husband of Josephine, entered eternal rest March 16, 2012, age 76, at the Yorkton & District Nursing home where he was a resident since March 12, 2009. Sid was born on July 29, 1935, to Joseph & Olga (nee- Prokopchuk) Lyzun of Endeavour, SK. He joined with the Armed Forces at Camp Dundurn [near Saskatoon] where he trained as a gunner. Sid then went on to Moose Jaw Tec. School and took training in Auto Bodywork/Painting. Upon finishing he obtained employment at the Reliance Garage in Preeceville, SK. Sid married his sweetheart, Josephine German, of Endeavour, SK. on June 30, 1962. Sid & Josie would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this June. They made their home in Preeceville for the next 9 yrs. They were blessed with 4 children. In 1971 Sid moved his family to Yorkton, SK, where he got a job in a body shop, eventually going into partnership forming A & L Auto Body. A few years later he formed Yorkton Collision Centre & Towing business until 1980 ending 35 yrs with the Chrysler Co. Sid worked with Dan's welding for 1 season on a natural gas pipeline, and Yorkton Tire and Auto. He then bid on a position as Campground Manager with the City of Yorkton, which he loved. Sid brought the campground up to its highest standards. Tourists from around the world, who stopped in at the campground, classed it as the #1 spot to visit. The cleanliness of the facilities & sites, also Sid's devotion and courtesy put Yorkton on the map in the 5 Star categories. He held this position from 1989 to 1995. The Chamber of Commerce named Sid an Ambassador to the City Of Yorkton. Sid then took early retirement due to a back injury. Yorkton is home for 41yrs. Sid worked many long hard hours with perfection and precision in whatever he did. Sid was jack-of-all trades, always creating something. He would be up around 5am sitting outside enjoying his first cup of coffee, then getting busy into his day. There wasn't a weed that would reach much above ground. In winter the driveway would be clear of snow before anyone drove over it. Sid always took time to give someone a hand or just to chat.
