Mrs. Violet Lucash, a resident of Kamsack Nursing Home passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Violet Lucash (nee Korol) was born on March 23, 1924 in the Donwell district to Andrew and Mary (nee Makowsky) Korol. She was the eldest of the family. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Bridok School. On July 26, 1942 Violet was united in marriage to Peter Lucash of the Dneiper District. They farmed together in the Veregin district where they raised their five children. In 1974 they made their home in Kamsack. In 1998 Violet moved to the Eaglestone Senior's Lodge and in 2010 she moved into the Kamsack Nursing Home where she resided until her passing. Upon retirement, Violet indulged in her many interests including singing in several choirs, doing puzzles, playing cards, gardening, reading and site seeing, along with spending time in the Senior's Centre. Violet is survived by her sons, Harold (Lois) and their children Jayson (Heather) and Chad, Wesley (Dixie) and their children Tamara (Ian) O'Neill and Tara, Oscar; daughters, Marie (Edwin) Thom and Eugenia; brother Taras (Dorothy); sisters, Sonja Herter and Nellie Cudney; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Korol and Ann Lucash; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Mary; husband Peter; daughter-in-law Shaun; sister Alice Galye; brother Zenovie and brothers-in-law Fred Galye, Melvin Herter and Wes Cudney. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, April 20 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Pastor Stephen Ruten of the Free Evangelical Church in Kamsack officiating. The guitarist, Rick Chernoff led in the singing of the hymns, "Softly and Tenderly", "In The Sweet By and By", "In The Garden" and "No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus". The obituary was read by Dorothy Korol and Relections & Remembrances were shared by Sonja Herter. The interment took place at Yorkton City Cemetery with Wayne Galye, Chad Galye, Evan Korol, Karen Michaud, Liz Radomski, Ed Thom and Leo Lucash serving as the casket bearers.
