LESON - Marie. The family of the late Marie Leson of Yorkton and formerly of Canora, SK announce her peaceful passing at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home, with family at her side, on October 25, 2017, at the age of 79 years. Marie was born on May 6, 1938 at the Leson homestead, approximately four miles south of Canora, SK. The eldest of nine children of Michael and Alexandra (Terlesky) Leson, Marie attended East Scalet School to Grade 8 and then Canora Composite High School. Marie, being the eldest of nine children, worked side by side with her Mom, cooking, cleaning, milking cows, canning and of course taking care of her younger siblings. Marie received her nursing-aid certificate and worked in Fort San in Qu'Appelle Valley, SK and then in Ninette, MB. Marie later moved to Yorkton and worked as a nanny for a number of years. She then gained employment in housekeeping at the Imperial 400 where she continued to work until her health declined. Marie spent her days as an out-patient at the Wellness Centre in Yorkton, enjoying many hours of bowling, playing cards, bingo and going on outings with friends and staff. Marie travelled weekends to Canora to visit family as well as to Saskatoon, Vancouver, Woodstock, Lacombe and Winnipeg. During the past five months she resided at the Yorkton Nursing Home. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marie is predeceased by her parents, Alexandra and Michael Leson; sister, Barbara Ramstead; brother-in-law, Paul Kaufmann and nephew, Tyson Kanski and great-nephew, David Terrence Coldwell. Marie leaves to mourn, her two brothers: Wilfred (Adeline) and Norman (Debbie) of Canora, SK; her five sisters: Evelyn (Gerry) Greaves of Vancouver, BC, Karen (Rick) Kanski of Winnipeg, MB, Linda (John) Lafantaisie of Winnipeg, MB, Deborah (Timothy) Gibney of Woodstock, ON and Constance (Michel) Leson-Carle of Stony Plain, AB; brother-in-law, Gerald Ramstead of Yorkton, SK and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends were invited to a Visitation at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 27, 2017. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Michael Faryna officiating. Interment followed at the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Yorkton and District Nursing Home or to a Charity of Donor's Choice, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Marie Leson. Family and friends unable to attend are invited to sign an online guestbook for Marie at www.lesonsfuneralhome.ca. Arrangements were entrusted to LESON'S FUNERAL HOME, Canora.
