LESINSZKI - Alma Lesinszki (nee Leipert) passed away September 19, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Alma was born October 26, 1924 in Stornoway, SK. She was the 11th of 13 children born to Gustav and Emma (nee Zepic) Leipert. In 1932 Gustav decided to try farming and moved his family to the Tupper district where Alma attended Tupper School. Alma loved the farm, it even had a small lake which was great for swimming, picnics and skating in the winter. As a young adult, Alma briefly worked in Fort Qu'Appelle and Winnipeg before moving back home. In 1949 Alma married Joe Lesinszki and together they settled on a farm in the Eden district. Alma took an active part in the farm, even driving the grain truck at harvest time. After 58 years of marriage Joe passed away in 2007. Alma remained on the farm until 2013 when she moved to a condo in Yorkton where she made many new friends. Alma was an avid gardener, always growing a huge and varied garden. She loved knitting and made many sweaters, mitts and scarfs for friends and relatives. Always a sports fan, she enjoyed watching curling, baseball and seldom missed a Rider game on TV. Family was always very important to Alma, especially her grandchildren. She was always there to provide loving advice and encouragement in all their activities. Alma was predeceased by her parents, Gustav and Emma; husband Joseph; daughter Margaret; brothers: Bill, Edward, Julius, Fred and Ben; sisters: Tena, Hilda, Elsie and Olga. She is survived by a daughter Linda; sons Allan and Les; grandchildren: Michael, Michelle, Megan and Brent; her brother Albert (Shirley); sisters: Clara and Rita (Dave); numerous nieces, nephews and her many other relatives and friends. Prayers were held on Monday evening, Sept. 25, 2017 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church, Yorkton. Mary Bybliw was the Lay-Presider. Pianist, Lorraine Lysak, led in the hymns 'Amazing Grace', Psalm 122 and 'I Know That My Redeemer Lives'. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday morning, Sept. 26, 2017 from St. Gerard's Church with Fr. Louis Kim Nguyen, Celebrant. The lay-readers were Michael Corrigall & Brent Lesinszki. The cross bearer was Wes Lonaway. Pianist, Rita Hilbig led in the hymns 'Morning Has Broken', Psalm 23, 'Unless A Grain of Wheat', 'Be Not Afraid', 'Song of the Angels' and 'How Great Thou Art'. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Ed Sek, Bill Walters, Michael Corrigall, Brent Lesinszki, Earl Upshall and Bill Bobyk serving as the casket bearers. Memorials were to the Cancer or Diabetes Society.
