Mrs. Mary Lazurko, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on December 29, 2016. She was 91 years of age. Mary was born March 16, 1925 in the Willowbrook district to William and Ann (nee Protz) Prybylski. She was united in marriage to Fred on November 4, 1945. They raised 4 children and looked after 8 foster children. She also sponsored 1 boy in Ukraine. Mary worked 10 years at the Yorkton Union Hospital, due to illness she had to retire early. Mary was always involved in her church, which was first priority, she belonged to the U.C.W.L. in Willowbrook and Yorkton and was president of both. She also belonged to the St. Mary's Golden Agers as well. She liked to play Bingo with her friends in the Golden Agers Centre. Mary loved her sports. Her dad had season tickets with the Yorkton Terriers for years until he passed away and she always followed the Terriers thereafter. Mary would also make it a point to watch the Blue Jays games on television. Curling was also a highlight for her on television. In her spare time Mary loved to knit. She would knit hats and mitts for children who had none as well as covers for people in wheel chairs. Above all, Mary was happy to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Fred on November 9, 1993; her father William on April 7, 1955; her mother, Ann on June 8, 1989 and brothers John in infancy; Orest on May 7, 1986 and sister-in-law Evangeline and Frank on May 30, 2001. Mary leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her children and their families: daughter, Christine (Jim) Moger, grandchild, Jimmy (Michelle); great-grandchildren Lane and Kyden; grandchild Sandy (Bobbi); great-grandchildren, Camron and Hallie; grandchild Michael (Kelly); great-grandchild, Anja and grandchild Cathy. Daughter Elizabeth; daughter Darlene (Allen), grandchild Mandi (Darryll); great-grandchild Scarlett; grandchildren Ami (Nathan), Trista (Don); great-grandchild Natalie. Son Christopher (Mary-Ann), granddaughter Lori and great-grandchild Taylor. She is also survived by her four sisters Rose, Angie, Adela, Margaret and sister-in-law, Olga. Prayers were held on Sunday evening, January 1, 2017 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, January 2, 2017 from St. Mary's Church with Most Rev. Bishop Brian Bayda C.Ss.R., Very Rev. Fr. Bohdan Lukie C.Ss.R., Rev. Fr. Ray Lukie C.Ss.R. and Rev. Fr. Methodius Kushko C.Ss.R. as Celebrants. The cross bearer was Mandi Dzuba and the epistle reader was Trista Dzuba. Members of St. Mary's CWL formed an Honour Guard at the Liturgy. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Bill Prybylski, Emil and Carl Lazurko, Nathan Varga, Don Anderson and Darryll McNary serving as the casket bearers.
