Mr. Stephen Lashta of Fort McMurray, AB, formerly of Yorkton and Melville, beloved husband of Lucy Lashta entered eternal rest June 26, 2012. He was 53 years of age. Stephen was born in Prince Albert SK. He was the youngest son of Steve and Irene Lashta. Stephen married Lucy (Musey) in 1985. They were blessed with a son Mark and daughter Ginette. Their adventures began in Yorkton, took them to Melville and sadly stopped in Fort McMurray. Stephen was a self taught Heavy Duty Mechanic who could fix anything. He helped his parents on the family farm and business for many years, as well as working in the mining industry. Stephen was an adventurer at heart. He and Lucy were always on the go. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, treasure hunting, scuba diving, and travelling. There were always places to go, things to fix, and new adventures to be had. He loved his family above all else and held them very dear to his heart. He always encouraged them to be their best. Stephen was well loved and highly respected by all the people who knew him. He was a mentor to many, and an inspiration to others, he leaves a void in many hearts and lives. He was taken away from us far too soon. He and Lucy had plans for many more adventures. There was never a dull moment when Stephen was around. He was predeceased by grandparents, father, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. He leaves behind his family Lucy, Mark, Ginette, mother Irene, sister Debbie (Darryl), brother Henry (Cathy), nieces Haylie, Erin and nephew Ryan, mother-in-law Ann, sister-in-law Angela, nephews James, Jeff, niece Jordan, sister-in-law Natalie (Martin), nephews John, Chad and Adrian, brother-in-law Terry (Holly), niece Nicole, and sister-in-law Naomi. The Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Very Rev. Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church officiating. The responses were led by Ed Pindus & Parish Choir Members. The epistle reader was Angela Blaylock and a eulogy was presented by Natalie Prybylski. Cathy Lashta paid tribute to Stephen on behalf of their family. Serving as honourary pallbearers were Hank Lashta, Peter Pryszlak, Bill Pryszlak, Terry Musey, Martin Shura and Roger Clavelle. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Ryan Lashta, James Blaylock, Jeff Blaylock, Chad Prybylski, Adrian Prybylski and Kyle Tratch serving as casket bearers.
