In loving memory of Edythe Lachowsky. Farmer's wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Edythe was born on November 22, 1933 to Lena and Alex Filipchuk. She was the eldest sibling having two brothers and two sisters. Edythe attended Bridok school near Donwell, SK until the age of sixteen. She continued living with her parents helping on the farm until she decided to leave to look for bigger challenges in life. She moved to Portage la Prairie, MB and accepted a job at a factory sewing men's parkas and jackets. A short time later she started working at a bus depot as a server and after three months she was promoted to head hostess. This is where Edythe met her future husband, Paul who was a regular customer. Edythe continued her adventures in life and accepted a job with the Portage la Prairie's Mental Institute working as a nurse's assistant. They were married in 1955 and shortly after started a family. Paul and Edythe decided to move their family to Gorlitz, SK and bought a farm in 1963. They were grain farmers and also raised cattle, pigs and chickens. Edythe worked hard on the farm. She helped in the barns, fields, gardened, canned, baked, did housework and was the caring mother of five. She had a love for nature and all of God's creatures, big and small. Edythe believed in God, in the Catholic faith and attended church services regularly. After forty years working together side by side with Paul on the farm they retired and moved to Yorkton to enjoy their golden years. Edythe continued her love of gardening, sewing, cross stitch, reading, baking and canning. She made the best bread, cabbage rolls, perogies and chiffon cakes which were always served at family gatherings. Paul and Edythe's home was always full of fun, food, music, card playing, conversation and lots of memories for family and friends. Shortly after her husband's passing in 2011, Edythe moved to the Gladstone Care Home and then to the Yorkton & District Care Home. Edythe was predeceased by her husband Paul; parents Alex and Lena Filipchuk; parents-in-law Mykita and Maria Lachowsky; brother-in-law Philip (Ann); brother-in-law Peter (Hofia) and sister Lorraine in infancy.
