Mrs. Orla Kutas of Ituna, beloved wife of Bernie passed away on January 3, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville at the age of 70 years. Orla Gail (nee Schwager) Kutas was born on June 30, 1941 in Kincaid, SK to Raymond & Jean (nee Schea) Schwager. She grew up on a farm north of Hazenmore and then moved into town in 1957. After completing high school, she attended Teachers' College and taught at Pilot Butte a year, then attended U of S for a year. This followed by various teaching jobs in Leross, Lestock and Kelliher. On July 10, 1965 she was united in marriage to Bernie Kutas. They raised two children. She retired in 1999 after 34 years of teaching and moved into Ituna that fall. Orla was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking and the time spent with her grandchildren. She also helped out in church and loved to coffee with her two sister-in-laws. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Bernie, daughter Lori (Mark)- Madison and Tamara Butchko of Yorkton, son Brent (Jeanette)- Brianna and Tristan of Ituna, brother Ken (Betty) Schwager of Penticton, BC, special friend and cousin Beulah (Lloyd) Carpenter of Hazenmore, four sister-in-laws and their husbands Helen and Paul Andre of Lumsden, Verna & Leon Kreway of Ituna, Staffa and Ron Renkas of Ituna and Evelyn and Ivan Zabinsky of Saskatoon, as well as three aunts, an uncle and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Ray and Jean Schwager, a sister and a son in infancy. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 7 at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Ituna with Rev. Father Albert Schmitz as the Celebrant. The organist, Paulette van der Helm led members of the parish choir in the singing of the hymns, 'This Day God Gives Me', 'The Lord's My Shepherd', 'Gift of Finest Wheat' and 'Praise The Lord with the Sound of Trumpet'. The cross bearer was Madison Butchko (Granddaughter) and the readers were Lillian Antonishyn & Helen Beer. Prayers of the Faithful were led by Gail Klus. Serving as the Gift Bearers were (Grandchildren), Madison & Tamara Butchko and Brianna & Tristan Kutas. The interment took place at Ituna R.C. Cemetery with Brent Kutas (son) serving as the urn bearer. Donations in Orla's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Children's Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.
