Annie Kuprowski, resident of the Extendicare Sunset Nursing Home in Regina, widow of John Kuprowski, formerly of Yorkton and the Sheho-Tuffnell district, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012. She was 87 years of age. Annie Kuprowski was born on March 12, 1925 in Ukraine to John and Polly (nee Katemay) Chupik. In 1929, Annie emigrated to Canada at the age of 4 years with her mother, to join her father who had come earlier. The family settled in the Parkerview district of SK. She was raised on the farm and attended school in the district. As a young woman Annie did house-keeping work before going to Sheho, where she worked in a restaurant. Here she met John Kuprowski and the
couple were wed on October 12, 1946. The couple settled to farming in the district, and following 30 years, retired from the farm into Yorkton in 1976. In April of 2007, John suffered a stroke and became a resident of the Pioneer Village in Regina and Annie went to live with her daughter Elaine. In April of 2011 she became a resident of Extendicare Sunset Nursing Home, where she had resided until her passing. Annie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, her family meant everything to her. She was a true homemaker, cooking, preserving her bountiful garden produce, helping John with the farm chores, and raising her children in a proper Christian manner. She loved the farm animals and her beloved pets. Annie and John had been faithful members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sheho as well as Holy Transfiguration Church in Yorkton. Predeceased by her husband John in September of 2007, Annie leaves to cherish her memory her four daughters: Elaine Robertson (Joe), Lorraine (Rudy) Radmacher, Beverly Neskar (Gary), all of Regina; and Diane (Terry) Hardy of Moose Jaw; six grandchildren: Melinda (Paul) Smith, Bradly (Janis) Mytko, Leslie (Donna) Mytko, Brandon (Debbie) Neskar, Ty Hardy and Tanner Hardy; six great grandchildren: Loren, Taylor and Brook Mytko, Avianna and Jaxon Smith and Damon Neskar. Also one sister, Nettie Lockert of Vibank; two brothers: Peter (Doris) Chupik, and Bill (Nadine) Chupik, all of Regina, and their families. Prayer services were held on Thursday evening, March 29, 2012 and the funeral service was held on Friday morning, March 30 all from the Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton. Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky was the celebrant, with the Cantor, Gerald Yaholnitsky, assisted by members of the Parish Choir, leading in the singing of the responses. The crossbearers were Eugene Maleschuk for the prayers and Brandon Neskar for the funeral. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Leslie & Bradly Mytko, Tanner and Ty Hardy, Dennis Chupik and Paul Smith serving as the casketbearers. Memorials may be made to the Family Support Group of Extendicare Sunset Nursing Home, 260 Sunset Dr. Regina, SK S4S 2S3. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
