George Kormos of Churchbridge and formerly of Bangor was born in the Fone Hill district on November 26, 1926 and passed away in Yorkton on April 19, 2012 at the age of 85 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Juliana (nee Plosz); his wife, Dorothy (nee Burant); daughters Elaine and Ramona; granddaughter Carla; son-in-law, Wayne Faillant; brothers Alex and Frank; and sisters Mary Frankowski and Judy Szumutku. He is survived by his children, Caroline (Robert Svoboda), Margaret Stecyk (Bob Haacke), Murray, Barbara (Darrell) Wrishko, Patricia (Patrick Au), Harvey (Linda), Garry; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Helen Vasseur, Albert, Bunny (Bertha) Stainger, and Barbara (Ethel) Simington. George was a man of strong faith, attending several churches and singing in the choir throughout his life. His faith and love for music always left him with a song to sing, hum or yodel. He had a great love of horses. More than mere pets or work tools, they were also his friends and were the last to go before selling the farm. George always wanted the best for his family and taught them about the values of faith, respect, charity, peace, family and love. He will be missed by his numerous family and friends who are deeply saddened by their loss. A vigil service was held Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville with the Rev. Fr. Anthony Bruno officiating. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Bangor with the Rev. Fr. Antoni Degutis, O.M.I. as the celebrant. Interment followed in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery with Daniel Kormos, Bradley Kormos, Mike Bernhardt, Jeff Stecyk, Garry Kormos, Patrick Au, Robert Haacke and Darrell Wrishko serving as pallbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville. In line with his own acts of charity, his family would appreciate gifts to the Pine Unit of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
