Jack Koch of Rhein, SK passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the age of 83 years. Jack was born on November 19, 1928 in Rhein, SK. He was the sixth child of Jacob and Katherine (nee Schwartz) Koch. Jack attended school in Rhein until Grade 12 when he left to attend Luther College in Regina, SK. Jack started working with the Hudson's Bay Company and with his job was stationed in various communities in Canada such as Kitimat, Red Lake and Goose Bay. On October 7, 1953 he was united in marriage to Jean MacDougall in Pelly, SK and after they were married they lived in Vancouver and Toronto. Over the years they were blessed with four children. When Jack left the Bay, he and Jean purchased and managed hotels in Torquay, Assiniboia and Swan River. After Jean's passing Jack returned to Rhein to make his home. Jack will be remembered for the stories he loved to tell, visiting people for coffee and travelling. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Katherine and Jacob Koch; his wife, Jean; his granddaughter, Krista Phillips; his brothers, Leslie, Dave, Sam, Clarence, Lawrence, Arnold and Albert; his sister, Frieda Propp; his brothers-in-law, Johnny Propp, Fritz Munz and Russell Hubic and his sister-in-law, Christine Munz. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his daughters, Jackie (Harvey) Phillips of Estevan, SK and Joanne (Gerry) Forrester of Torquay, SK; his sons, Jay (Odelia) Koch of Rhein, SK and Jerry Koch of Rhein, SK; his grandchildren, Kurt Phillips, Jared Forrester, Kristopher Phillips, Ashley Forrester (Nolan Pattemore), Derek (Karla) Forrester, Haley Koch, Kursten Koch and Katelyn Koch; one great-grandson, Rylan Forrester-Pattemore; his brothers, Keith, Harvey (Dorothy), Fred (Pat) and Garry (Verna) Koch; his two sisters, Beverly (Art) Cocroft and Kathy (Ed) Knapp; his sisters-in-law, Isabel Koch, Shirley Koch, Joan Koch, Irene Koch and Alice Hubic as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Private Family Grave Side Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Garden of St. Mark, Yorkton Memorial Gardens, Yorkton, SK. The Honourary Pallbearers were all those who shared in Jack's life and the active pallbearers were Kurt Phillips, Jared Forrester, Kristopher Phillips, Derek Forrester, Gerry Forrester and Harvey Phillips.
