Rose Mary Hutchings (nee Jones), beloved wife of the late Herman Hutchings passed away on the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the age of 99 years, 5 days, with her granddaughter by her side. Softly on that morning, she heard a gentle call, she took the hand God offered her and quietly left us all. Rose was born in Oshawa, ON, July 8, 1914, the youngest of five children born to William and Cora Belle (nee Drew) Jones. In April of 1921, she moved with her family to Lucky Lake, SK. The family resided there till 1933 when they moved to the Boakeview District in the Saltcoats area, after being dried out during the dirty 30's drought. Rose met her future husband, Herman and they were married in November, 1937. Together they purchased Herman's family farm and worked side by side in a cattle and grain farming operation. In May of 1939, Herman and Rose's only child, Kenneth was born. They remained on the farm till Herman's passing in 1983. At this time, Rose left the farm and moved into the Senior Units in the town of Saltcoats. Rose lived there till the age of 98 years. In August of 2012, Rose suffered a stroke and was hospitalized. In mid-September, she was admitted into long term care in Esterhazy, always hoping and praying she would return to her home town of Saltcoats. Rose got her room in Lakeside Manor Care Home in Saltcoats in December, just in time to spend Christmas at the farm with her family. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Herman; her sisters, Helen (Ed Ray), Aggie (Frank Brown), Mabel (Bill Tullis) and brother, Elmer (Polly); brother-in-law, Charles "Chick" (Gertie); sister-in-law, Edith (Percy Wright); great-grandsons, Dallas Kopp and Wyatt McKie. Rose leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Kenneth and his wife, Florence; five grandchildren, Curtis (Laurie), Trudy (Merv), Natalie, Mark (Carrie), Carrie; nine great-grandchildren, Shianne and Amanda Hutchings, Marti-Jo and Cody McKie, Austin and Tristin Hutchings, Jenna (Danny) Third, Jessica and Jenelle Hutchings; one great-great-grandchild, Kaia Third; brother-in-law, Fred (Irna) Hutchings as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Grave Side Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from the Saltcoats Town Cemetery, Saltcoats, Saskatchewan with Reverend Walter Farquharson officiated. Soloist, Linda Cross shared a musical tribute, "Amazing Grace". Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com.
