Mr. Peter Husak, beloved husband of Marie Husak of Yorkton passed away at the Yorkton Health Centre on August 11, 2016. Peter was ninety-two years of age. Peter was born in the Wroxton district to Nick and Mary (Lesanko) Husack on June 10, 1924. He attended Loyal School with his older siblings Anne and William until Grade 9 before moving to Calder School to complete Grades 10 and 11. He left home afterward to build engines in St. Catherines, ON during the war before working as a milkman in Winnipeg and a lumberjack on Vancouver Island. He returned to the Calder area in the late 1940鈥檚 to work on the family farm. Peter married Marie Kaminsky on October 9, 1949 in the Wroxton Ukrainian Orthodox Church. They had two sons; Terry born in 1950 and Wade born in 1962. After living on the farm, the family moved to Yorkton in 1959. Peter worked in the office for the Municipalities of Wallace and Orkney before becoming a salesman for Sears; a position he held for 25 years. Peter semi-retired in 1982 to become a real estate agent for Century 21 before fully retiring in 1988. Peter鈥檚 great passion was fishing. He spent almost every weekend, summer and winter, going fishing. He also loved to garden, planting various vegetables at their half acre 鈥淧onderosa鈥� just outside of town. Peter also liked to travel having visited Alaska, the Yukon, Hawaii, the southeast United States as well as most provinces in Canada. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Mary, his brother William and his sister Anne (Olineck). He will be remembered by his wife Marie, children Terry (Christine), Wade (Kelly), grandchildren Kevin (Angela), Terrena (Kyle), Nicole and Colin and great-grandchild Hendrick, as well as nephews, nieces and cousins. Prayer Services were held on Monday, August 15, 2016 from St. Mark The Evangelist Orthodox Church. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from St. Mark The Evangelist Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Rev. Fr. Rodion Luciuk officiating. The responses were sung by Moria Stoll and Bob Rohr with members of the parish choir. The cross bearer was Matt Riabko. Interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Glen Husak, Stan Wasylyniuk, John Woronuik, Martin Zip, Bob Kaminsky and Jim Kensick serving as the casket bearers.
