Stella Hood of Wadena, formerly of Yorkton, died peacefully March 23, 2014 at Pleasant View Care Home, Wadena. She was 81 years of age. Stella was born October 18, 1932 on the family farm in West Bend district, Saskatchewan to William and Mary (nee Skilnik) Hood. Predeceased by her parents, brothers, Fred and Mike, and sisters Katie and Anne. Left to mourn sister Sophie Holowanky of Victoria, BC and nieces and nephews. Stella attended Ladstock school as a child, then moved to Yorkton with her parents. She spent much of her adult life in Wadena. Stella had many hobbies including gardening, cooking, and five pin bowling. She worked for many years for Mallard Industries in Wadena, and loved her work. Stella was always a happy person, had many friends, and astounded people with her amazing memory - she never forgot a birthday. The family extends sincere thanks to Mallard Industries and to the Pleasant View Care Home for the many wonderful years of guidance, care and support they provided Stella. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The cross bearer was Leanne Zemlak and the epistle reader was Dianne Hood. The responses were led by Ed Pindus & parish choir members. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Bailey's Staff serving as casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Stella may be made to Mallard Industries as gifts of remembrance.
