Mr. Paul Holowka, beloved husband of the late Anne Holowka, entered eternal rest at the age of 93 years. Paul was a resident at St Paul's Lutheran Home in Melville. Paul was born on May 12, 1923 in the Jaroslaw district to Michael and Fanny (Osmak) Holowka. Paul attended Jaroslaw School and helped on the farm. Paul married Anne Rachkowski on October 9, 1949 at St Mary's Church in Yorkton. Paul worked in Sudbury, ON at the nickel mine. He returned home and worked at Johnny's Dry Cleaners and later at Morris Rod Weeder after which he retired. Paul enjoyed gardening, listening to Ukrainian music and dancing. But most of all he enjoyed fishing, especially if he caught a big one. Paul was predeceased by his wife Anne, parents and parent's-in-law, brothers, John, Bill, Harry, Mike, Pete, Fred, Joe, Steve and Andy. Sisters Ann Kocan, Mary Kolodziezak, Catherine Balaberda and Nettie Holowka. Sister-in-laws Josephine, Angeline, Waltrina, Emma, Mary, Anne, Monica, Katie. Brother-in-laws Charlie Kolodziezak, Tony Balaberda and Joe Kocan. Left to cherish his memories are numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Very Rev. Father Bohdan Lukie, C.Ss.R. of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church officiating. The responses were led by Bernadette Gabora and Victor Puchala. The interment followed in the Garden of St. John at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Darren Balaberda, Gene Holowka Jr., Harvey Kolodziejak, Jerry Snidanko, Frank Snidanko and Larry German serving as the casket bearers. Following a memorial luncheon words of remembrance were shared by Walle Head and Linda Burback. Memorials in memory of Paul may be made to the Alzheimer's Society as gifts of remembrance.
