Jean Holland, longtime Bredenbury resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Lakeside Manor Care Home in Saltcoats. She was 95 years of age. Born Jean Ruth Arnott on October 19, 1922 at Eastend, SK; a daughter of Levi and Ruth (nee Waugh) Arnott. Her family moved near Bredenbury where she attended the Kimbrae School. The family then moved near Atwater where she attended the Coma Park School to grade nine. As a young woman she remained on the farm to help. She married Harry Holland and raised four sons on the farm near Bredenbury. She also milked cows and had a large garden, baked bread, knitted and tended to the children. Eventually Jean left the farm and began working for the Department of Highways. Then went to work for the Town of Bredenbury for 10 to 12 years. She enjoyed making her own jams, tending to the garden, cutting grass and looking after her own home until her health failed and she was in the care home. She became a resident of the Lakeside Manor Care Home until her passing in the company of her sons on January 2. Predeceased by two sons, William 'Bud' and James Douglas; granddaughter Wendy Holland; her parents, Levi & Ruth Arnott; brothers Keith (Eva), Harvey, Victor (Irene), Garry (Zelda), Andy (Jean); sister Ruby (Robert) Graham; sister-in-law Nest Arnott. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Barry of The Pas, MB, and Roy of Bredenbury; daughter-in-law Joan Holland of Hudson Bay; brothers Norman (Jean) Arnott in BC and Archie in Yorkton; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Cremation has taken place, there will be a graveside memorial service for Jean in the spring at the family plot at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
