Posted

It is with profound sadness that the family of Betty Ileen Hedley (nee Boyd), wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, announce her passing on January 8, 2018. Betty was born March 25, 1931 in the village of Madison, SK to Margaret and Fred Boyd. She was the youngest child of seven siblings to this union. She was a hard working individual who at a young age, helped cook and look after a family restaurant/hotel in Madison with her mother. Here she met her husband, Barry Hedley, a young grain buyer who came to work in Madison. They were united in marriage on November 14, 1952 and had many years of happiness living in Kelvington, York Lake and finally in Yorkton. Betty worked briefly at the Yorkton Union Hospital in house cleaning and for a few years at Drs. Daunt and Crossley as a receptionist. She was a wonderful and kind wife, mother and grandmother. Betty baked some of the best bread and buns, but was famous for her brownie that everyone loved and asked for on many occasions. Betty and Barry spent many winters in Dessert Hot Springs, California where her relatives Bill and Mona Watkins and many other family members came to visit. After living at York Lake for many wonderful years, they moved into Fairview Arms in Yorkton. While residing at their residence in Yorkton, Betty developed some health issues and had to be hospitalized in January of this year. Following a brief stay in the Yorkton Union Hospital, she passed away with her children at her side on Monday, January 8 at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by her husband, Barry, in 2012 and twin sons in infancy, Russell & John in 1969; three sisters; one brother and a sister-in-law, Mona Watkins, whom she dearly loved like a sister. She leaves to cherish her memory . . . sons: Fred (Val) and their daughters, Tara (Robin Lachapelle) and their children, David and Anna. Lindsey (Blair Herman) and their children, Coen and Alex. Pat (Gayle) and their daughters, Shayla (Dion Darling) and their children, Madilyn and Briar. Jennifer (Mike O’Connell) and their son, Rowan. Calvin (Faith) and their children, Erin, Nicole and Jon. Daughter: Kim (Steve Procyshen) and their son, Matthew. Betty also leaves to cherish her memory, her brother-in-law, Bill Watkins; brothers Jack and Harvey Boyd and sister-in-law Dorothy Boyd. The family would like to thank the doctors and caregivers on 3rd Â鶹ÊÓƵ for their compassionate efforts in keeping Betty comfortable during her time of need.
