Rose Halushka

Mrs. Rose Halushka of Yorkton entered eternal rest on August 10, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Rose (Rosie) Halushka was born on July 7, 1921 daughter of Kost and Mary Fedyk. She received her education at Nanton School in Homefield. On August 28, 1943 Rose was united in marriage to John Woychesko. The couple were blessed with two children, Elaine and Clarence. They farmed and lived in the Beaverdale district until John's health began failing when they moved to Yorkton. John passed away on August 6, 1965 and on June 22, 1968 Rose married Metro Halushka and continued living in Yorkton. Metro passed away in 2006. In 2007 Rose's health began to fail and as a result became a resident of St. Anne's Home in Ituna. Later she moved back to Yorkton and became a resident of Country Meadow wing of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. Her sense of humour was enjoyed by all the staff who took great care of her. Rose enjoyed many hobbies, some of them were cooking, gardening and playing bingo, (she wasn't called "Bingo Baba" for nothing). She was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Church, first at Beaverdale and later in Yorkton. While at Beaverdale she was a member of the parish choir. Rose leaves to celebrate her life, her daughter Elaine Kozie and her son Clarence (Violet) Woychesko; stepsons, Vincent (Bernie) and Walter Halushka; six grandchildren Darrell (Sherry) Kozie, Cynthia (Kerry) Greenstein, Pam Stromecki, Dwayne (Serena) Kozie, Bradley Woychesko and Ashley (Kyle) Pedde; seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; sisters Katie Mathuik and Jean Stadnyk; sisters-in-law Sonia and Lillian Fedyk. As well as numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins. Besides her both husbands, Rose was predeceased by a son-in-law Dan Kozie; brothers Andrew, Joe and Walter Fedyk; brothers-in-law Bill Mathuik and Andrew Stadnyk and sister-in-law Mabel Fedyk. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Fr. Bohdan Lukie, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Colette Karapita and St. Mary's Choir members. The cross bearers were Michael & Drake Kozie and the epistle reader was Serena Kozie. The interment took place at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Beaverdale with Bradley Woychesko, Justin Kozie, Ryan Kozie, Dwayne Kozie, Darrell Kozie and Andrew Dobko serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Rosie's life may be made to St. Mary's Church, Beaverdale. Memorials may be sent to the family at .Ìý
