He was predeased by his parents, Anna and Caspar Haas, his sister, Eva Cooper, and in-laws: George Cooper, Joseph Speidel, Elizabeth Speidel Chesney (Ben), Delores and Bert Cross, Lorraine and 'Slim' Campbell, Vernon Speidel, and Norman Nelson. Roy was a wonderful father, grandfather, and uncle. He was always visiting his children and offering his 'repair services'. There wasn't much he couldn't fix and he always had just the right tool for everything. He always showed a keen interest in his grandchildren's sporting events and was very proud of their accomplishments and educational endeavors. Roy always enjoyed when his nieces and nephews visited and spent holidays at the farm. Roy loved spending time on the land. He was a hard worker and an excellent provider for his family. He spent most of his life farming, at first working with his own father, and then later with his brother, Caspar. After his retirement, Roy worked part time for Murray and Adele Paske. While working at Paske Farms, he made many friends who he considered 'family'. Roy often reflected on these years, as some of the happiest of his life. Roy was a real people person. He loved meeting and visiting with friends and forming new friendships wherever he went.  Many will attest to the fact that he loved to tease and play practical jokes. In his younger years, Roy enjoyed playing ball, coaching hockey and golfing. Roy enjoyed travelling to Arizona during winters, being a volunteer at St. Paul's Hospital, and spending time at the Day Program at Sherbrooke Community Centre. He continued making new friends at all of these places and right up to his very last days at Royal University Hospital. Roy's family sincerely thank all those who have offered their support and condolences. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
