FLAVEL- James Alan Flavel passed away suddenly on June 18, 2017 at the age of 54 years. James was born on September 21, 1962 in Regina, SK, the son of Alan and the late Helen (nee Macknak) Flavel. At an early age Jimmy's family moved from Regina to Yorkton, SK. He attended the Lion's School for his education. He enjoyed school and was not above pulling the odd prank on the teachers. Jim was a very fun loving boy. James went to work at the Parkland Abilities Centre and enjoyed various tasks there. In his early teens James developed schizophrenia and this totally changed his life. He battled with this disease the rest of his life. James was predeceased by his mother, Helen. He will be lovingly remembered by his father, Alan and his brothers, Robert (Adele) of Regina, SK and their sons, Nolan (Stephanie) and Curtis (Kristen); Michael (Heather) of Regina, SK and their children, Christopher (Emmy) and Terri and Marlin (Vanessa) of Weyburn, SK and their daughter, Sela. Jimmy was always considerate of other people and willing to help anyone who needed it. James will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The Prayer Vigil Service was held from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton, SK on Thursday, June 22, 2017 with Father Francis Hengen officiating. The Reader was Marlin Flavel. The pianist, Diana Hornung and members of the church choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Lord of All Hopefulness", "Psalm 119" and "Day is Done". The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, June 23, 2017 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church with Father Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The Readers were Robert Flavel and Michael Flavel and the cross bearer was Marlin Flavel. The pianist, Chris Fisher and members of the church choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Be Not Afraid", "Psalm 23", "Come Home", "All for Your Glory", "Song of the Angels" and "Glory and Praise to Our God". The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Christopher Flavel, Nolan Flavel, Curtis Flavel, Jeff Flavel, Rodney Macknak and Jeremy Macknak serving as the pall bearers.
