Albert Eckhart was born September 1, 1921 near Willowbrook, SK to Charles (Charlie) and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Eckhart. As a boy attending Silver Willow School, he loved baseball and farming. He enlisted as a private in the Canadian army during WWII and was wounded while serving in England. He was very proud of his service on behalf of his country. After the war, he worked as a farmhand, a logger and doing construction. On June 12, 1965, he married Kathy (nee Lunn) at Westview United Church; together they raised Karen and Allan (Michelle) as well as enjoyed working in the garden, fishing, hunting, playing cards and all of life's other joys and sorrows. They lived in Otthon and in Springside. Albert spent the kids' school years working for the federal government, and enjoyed the fact he could still garden during the mornings prior to work. He was able to build just about anything, fix just about anything, enjoyed curling and reading, and watching NHL and CFL games. He sincerely enjoyed helping friends and family any time he could. Albert was predeceased by Kathy, by both his parents, his brothers, Lloyd and Norman, and sister, Alice. Cherishing his memory are: his children, Karen, and Allan (Michelle) and their children, Madeline and Maren; his last surviving sibling, Laura (Art Ridley); his sisters-in-law and their families, Dorothy (Jim), Vicky, Audrey (Jim), Edna and Wilma; his special grandchildren, Mike, Lauren, Jessica and Alex, as well as many other relatives and friends. He was residing at Aspen Bluffs Villa in Yorkton when he died August 29, just shy of his 91st birthday. We thank the staff for their love and support of Albert during his last years.
