George Alfred Diceman passed away peacefully on December 24, 2017 at the Yorkton Nursing Home at the age of 95. He was born on the farm on February 21, 1922 to parents Alonzo and Katie Diceman. He grew up with his parents, one brother and three sisters. He attended Mapleside School, the country school his father had helped to establish. Growing up on a farm taught him the love of farming which he did after completing grade eight. He farmed with his father, taking over the farm in 1946, upon his father's death. In March 1946, he married Agnes Robb, a beautiful, hard working, hazel-eyed girl that he'd met while working in the Dauphin area in 1938. They had one son and two daughters. He was very community minded. He was a trustee of Mapleside School. He was on the board or on committees of the local rural telephone company, the National Farmers' Union, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Yorkton Credit Union and Credit Union Central in Regina. Being involved let him know what was happening locally and provincially and allowed him to be part of the decision making process. Predeceased by his wife Agnes in 2012, George was the final member of his generation of siblings and spouses. He was the cherished "Uncle George" to many nieces and nephews. Two months short of 96 years, he leaves to cherish his memory, Georgina (Henry), Terence, Raegina (Bob), four grandsons, spouses and eight great-grandchildren: Steven (Linda), Brandon, Mackenzie and Alexis; Ryan (Lynette), Skylar and Gavin; Trevor (Erin), Andrew, Mason and Elyssa; Robin. Funeral service was held Friday, January 5 at Christie's Funeral Home, officiated by Jen Dresser. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
