Jean (Eugenie) Denesowych (Nee Baczur), 86, of Yorkton, went to heaven December 21, 2011. She was a Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Cousin, and Friend. She was born in the Honeymoon district of Prince Albert, January 14, 1925 to the late John Baczur and Michalina Polak. She was the youngest of 7 children. She married Nick Denesowych on D-day June 6, 1944 and then moved to Dysart where they worked on the farm and raised their family. She never complained about the hard work and taught all her children if you work hard you will be rewarded. When your work was done it was time to go and visit relatives or have them come over for a nice Sunday dinner. She was always busy in the kitchen and always had plenty of food. She was famous for her perogies, pickles, cabbage rolls, yummy mushroom gravy and head cheese. She enjoyed company and always had time for card games. Music was always played in the house either by family and friends or tapes and the radio. Dance Party was one of her favorite programs. Whenever you went to visit there was always food on the table. For a short time, Jean and Nick lived in Regina so they could be closer to family, particularly her grandchildren and she enjoyed having them over while the parents worked. After selling the farm in Dysart in 1973, they moved to the Fonehill district near Yorkton. Following Nick's passing in 1978, Jean moved her trailer to Yorkton. She found friendship and companionship with Steve Denesowych. Together they travelled to many places and spent summers at the Sunnyside Beach cabin. Good friends were made and many fish were caught. At the lake, decks of cards were always on the table and the abundance of food remained her trademark. She worked for the Yorkton Union Hospital and Facilities Services for many years before retiring. She made many friends at work and enjoyed those years working in the kitchen. Last year she moved to Aspen Bluff Villa where she lived until her passing. She was a real trouper right to the end and never complained once. Always willing to give advice whether we took it or not was up to us. Her smart comments were the best, direct to the point and always brought laughter. She was survived by her children Marie Seckler of Brampton, Ont., Walter (Conny) Denesovych of Vanguard, Eileen (Donald) Zurakowski of Prince Albert, Valarie (Greg) Brandt of Armstrong, BC, Allan (Cheryl) Denesowych of Yorkton. 11 Grandchildren, Michael (Veronica) Seckler, Michelle Seckler, Brenda (Serge) Lepine, Jonathan (Claire) Denesovych, Jeremy (Jessica) Denesovych, Stephen (Carolyn) Zurakowski, Theresa (Andrew) Shaw, Darwin (Tami) Zurakowski, Pamela (Shaun) Mason, Tanner Denesowych & Cole Denesowych. 14 Great Grandchildren, Hannah & Joshua Seckler, Celina & Cody Lepine, Avery Denesovych, Skylar & Kaitlyn Denesovych, Kayla & Hannah Zurakowski, Matthew, Tyler, James, Emily & William Shaw; Sister-in-law Mary Denesovych and many Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Nick Denesowych, sons Eddy and Johnny Denesowych in infancy, her parents John & Michalina Bachur, her in-laws John and Agnes Denesowych, Brothers Frank Bachur, Peter Bachur, Sisters Nellie Maksymyshyn, Mary Stanley, Pauline Bachur (in infancy) & Jessie Mardell. Brothers in law Mike, Peter and Steve Denesovych and Sister-in- Law Mary Kielniak and special nephew Brian Denesowych. Her life has left much joy. Her sparking wit, intelligent mind, busy hands, caring heart and wonderful sense of humour leave forever a mark upon those that knew and loved her. She will be sadly missed by those who knew her. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 27 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Fr. Methodius Kushko, C.Ss.R. officiating. The responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita and St. Mary's Choir members. Reflections were shared by Valarie Brandt and Yvonne Seckler on behalf of Marie Seckler. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Mary Denesovych, David Kielniak, Pat and Ernie Bolton and Hazel Terichow. The interment took place at St. Vladimir's Parish Cemetery in Kelliher with Jonathan Denesovych, Jeremy Denesovych, Steve Zurakowski, Darwin Zurakowski, Tanner Denesowych and Cole Denesowych serving as casket bearers.
