It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Davis of Yorkton, SK on September 25, 2012 at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, Yorkton, SK with his children by his side. He was 85 years of age. Roy was born on February 13, 1927 in Shellmouth, MB, the son of Herbert and Rose (nee Atkinson) Davis. He received his education at Logburg School, north of Churchbridge, SK. On March 5, 1945, he enrolled in the 12 District Depot Canadian Army at Regina, SK. He was stationed in Regina, Maple Creek and Calgary. Roy worked at various jobs including Logan & Black, the Pool
Elevator, Singer Sewing Machine Co. and Morris Rod Weeder Co. He enjoyed spending time with his children, Debbie, Brent and Stephanie and his special grandchildren, Michael and Sabrina. Some of his favourite things to do were fishing, camping, hunting as well as spending time with his friends over a coffee and attending Fall Suppers. Roy was preceased by his parents, Herbert in 1966 and Rose in 1977; brothers, Herbert (1981), Clarence (2006), Eddie (1995), Glen (1978), Richard (1999), Percy (1976), Charlie (2005) and his sister, Ethel (2007). Roy will be lovingly remembered by his
children, Debbie of Yorkton, SK, Brent (Carol) of Yorkton, SK and Stephanie (Anthony) of Yorkton, SK and his two grandchildren, Michael of Saskatoon, SK and Sabrina (Brayden) of Yorkton, SK; his sister, Dorothy (Travis) Thorvaldson of Moose Jaw, SK as well as numerous nieces and nephews and all his very special friends. A Visitation for family and friends was held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, October 1, 2012 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home with Reverend Cordelia Karpenko of St. Andrew's United Church officiating. The organist, Carla Laycock, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Members of the General Alexander Ross Branch #77 of the Royal Canadian Legion conducted Legion Funeral Rites. The interment service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Trevor Fofonoff, Bryce Fofonoff, Steven Warcomika, Jack Mak, Miles Rosin and Barclay Westerhaug serving as casket bearers. The honourary pallbearers were members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #77, Bud deBalinhard, Sina Schmidt, Yen Mak and all of Roy's friends from Jubilee Crescent and the Trail Stop Restaurant.
