Mary Ann (nee Wintonyk) Copot. It is with saddened hearts that the family of Mary Ann Copot announces her peaceful passing on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the age of 93. She was born in Stornoway, SK on November 5, 1923, the eldest of 9 children. Mary grew up in the area of Dunleath, SK on the family farm, she enjoyed the farm life but wanted more. Mary moved to Edmonton in 1947 where Mary met the love of her life, Murray. Mary and Murray married on June 11, 1949 and were soulmates until Murray's passing in 2011. Mary and Murray's life is celebrated by their five children and their spouses; Terry (Sharon) Copot, Ruth Copot (Harry Hobbs), Debbie (Tom) Peacock, Joanne (Keith) Leggat and Carol (Jim) Stone; 9 grandchildren Sarah (Gerald) Safranka, Kyle Stone, Chad Leggat, Greg Peacock, Mike Copot (Tory Berger), Ryan (Jenna) Stone, Julie (Kyle Armit) Peacock-Armit, Colin (Ashlee) Stone and Chris (Jen) Copot; as well as 7 great-grandchildren Ellis and Maeve Safranka, Jett, Harper and Scarlett Stone, Camden and Myla Stone. She is also survived by her siblings; Vi Heller, Ruth (Bob) McKee & Dr. Bob (Su) Wintonyk. Mary's true passion was her family, she loved each one equally and was never judgmental of family or friends. She always found the positive in everything. Mary enjoyed family get-togethers. Mary had a green thumb and it showed in her gardens. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and her love for bridge where she made lifelong friends. The past five years Mary had made many friends at the Manor at Huntington Hills. Mary will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She taught us all well, her job is done here, it is time for her to dance with her true love, Murray. Mary's was a life well lived. A Prayer Service was held at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 404 Meredith Rd. NE, Calgary on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. with interment that followed at Queen's Park Cemetery.
