Alice Clark of Yorkton, SK, formally from Churchbridge, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2017 at her residence in Morris House of Yorkton and District Nursing Home at the age of 88 years. Alice Margaret Clark was born on June 2, 1929 and raised on the family farm in Spy Hill, SK. Alice was the daughter of Frank and Mary (nee Smith) Baseley, and older sister to Frederick W. Baseley. Alice attended school in Spy Hill. On May 6, 1967 Alice married Robert George Clark of Spy Hill, SK. They were married at St. Andrews United Church in Yorkton, SK. Robert and Alice resided on the family farm in Churchbridge, SK where they raised their two daughters, Mary Ann and Mabel. Alice was a loving and supportive wife and mother who worked alongside her husband Robert (Bob). Together they worked hard as grain farmers, raising a beef herd and later moved into dairy farming. Alice was an avid gardener, often having two to three gardens each year. She had a green thumb and knew all there was to know about growing geraniums and Christmas cactus. Alice loved canning and making jam which she often made after picking saskatoons or chokecherries from the wild and raspberries, cranberries, and strawberries from her own garden. She loved to bake and often got up early each morning to make cookies or cake for her daughter's lunches for school. Weekly she always made bread so the family could enjoy fresh bread and cinnamon buns right out of the oven. She made her own butter and ice cream and the best homemade cream puffs. She enjoyed knitting and taught her girls how to knit also. She took time out of her busy day to drive her girls to and from sporting activities, school events or 4-H meetings and shows. Alice loved her animals, her cats and dogs, the cattle and horses. She was always there to help get the horses ready for 4-H, and the horse shows. She took an active interest in her daughter's pets and horses, always asking every time they talked, how are the cats, or how are the horses. She loved to play cards with her husband and their friends or neighbors, or just having a coffee and a visit. She always made sure everyone ate, whether they were there for a visit or working on the farm. She loved her three grandsons, Cody (Taryn) and Mitchell born to Mary Ann (Dwight) Yacyshyn and Riley born to Mabel (Kim) Lazecki. In 2001 Alice and Robert retired and moved into Churchbridge where they lived together until Robert's passing on January 26, 2006. This is also when she became an avid Blue Jays fan. She tried not to miss any Blue Jays games and often could give you all the details of each game including pitches, home runs and who had the bad umpires. She was also a dedicated curling fan and looked forward to watching each game. Alice continued to live in Churchbridge until her health forced her to move to the nursing home in 2013 where she resided until her passing. During this time, she loved making puzzles and watching her ball games and old movies with John Wayne. Alice was predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary Baseley, her husband Robert Clark, her brother Frederick Baseley, sister-in-law Evelyn Baseley, brother-in-law Frederick Clark, sister-in-law Mabel Celino, brother-in-law Wallace Clark. Alice will be missed dearly by her daughters: Mary Ann (Dwight), sons Cody (Taryn) and Mitchell Yacyshyn, Mabel (Kim) Riley Lazecki, step-grandson Ryan (Breanna), Sebasien, Oliver, step-granddaughter Kristen (Shane) Brendon; her sisters-in-law, Lillian Clark Goodman, Darlene Clark, brother-in-law, John Celino and her nieces, nephews and their families and cousins. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Jen Dresser officiating. Interment followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens. The pall bearers were Cody Yacyshyn, Mitchell Yacyshyn, Riley Lazecki, Barb Decker, Brian Decker, Garth Revet. The honourary pall bearers were all those in attendance. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society or the Yorkton S.P.C.A.
