Rodger Chernoff of Yorkton and formerly of Kamsack passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday May 7, 2017. Rodger was 70 years of age. Rodger was born on September 23, 1946 to Mike and Pauline (nee Savinkoff) Chernoff at Kamsack. He was raised on the family farm northwest of Kamsack and attended school at the Whitesand School and the Kamsack Collegiate. He completed his grade 12 at Walter Murray Collegiate in Regina where he lived with his brother, Fred and his wife, Norma. Rodger farmed and later went into a full time career of floor installation and carpet cleaning. Most recently Rodger was employed as the custodian and maintenance man at the Yorkton Alliance Church and was also the maintenance man at the Allanbrooke Apartments. Rodger enjoyed reading Stephen King novels, listening to all kinds of music and he loved nature and the outdoors. Rodgers greatest joy in life was his four grandchildren with whom he had a wonderful and special relationship. Rodger is predeceased by his parents, Mike and Pauline Chernoff; his sister, Judy Evelyn Rose Douglas and by numerous aunts and uncles. Rodger leaves to celebrate his life his two sons, Christopher and Adam (Angela); his brother, Fred (Norma); his four grandchildren, Polina, Mischa, Anya-Rae and Christine; by numerous nieces and nephews and by countless friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from the Yorkton Alliance Church with Reverend Doctor Peter Hay officiating with interment following in the Riverview North Cemetery in Kamsack with Chris Chernoff, Adam Chernoff, Darryl Chernoff, Michael Chernoff, Darwin McMaster and Nathan Hay serving as the pall bearers. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of the Late Rodger Chernoff may be made to his grandchildren's educational fund c/o Adam & Angela Chernoff, #35 Bailey Drive, Yorkton, Saskatchewan S3N 2J2. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kopan's Funeral Service, Highway #9 North, Yorkton. 306-783-0099. .
