William Bodnaryk of Yorkton and formerly of Theodore passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on June 10, 2017 with his family by his bedside following a brief illness. William was 89 years of age. Bill was born in the Theodore - Insinger District to Kost and Polly (nee Petrushak) Bodnaryk. Bill grew up in various parts of British Columbia, coming back to Saskatchewan to the Rhein area in 1940. Following his schooling, Bill worked in various places in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Bill was united in Holy Matrimony to Anne Polowick in 1955. Bill and Anne were blessed with two sons, Randal and Garry. Bill and Anne lived and worked in Yorkton until 1961 when the family moved to Theodore where Bill and Anne owned a café and later a store. Following Anne's passing, Bill was united in Holy Matrimony to Martha (nee Reiger) Jakubowski in 1978. Several years later Bill began working for Western Grocers and continued there until his retirement. Bill and Martha continued to live in Theodore until 2006 when they moved to Yorkton. Over the years Bill was actively involved with numerous community organizations in Theodore and Texas. Bill is predeceased by his parents, Kost and Polly; his first wife, Anne; his sister, Elsie Rozen; his brother, John; brothers-in-law, Fred (Phelia) Polowick, Mike (Anne) Polowick, Bill Polowick, John (Ann) Polowick, Alex (Doris) Polowick, Ron (Viola) Reiger and Gordon Rubletz; his sisters-in-law, Mary (George) Windjack, Dora (George) Marianchuk and Lillian Polowick. Bill leaves to celebrate his life his beloved wife, Martha; his sons, Randal (Sharron) and Garry; his step-children, Garry Jakubowski, Lucy (Mike) Mallick, Grace (Mark) Molnar and their families. Bill will also be remembered by his brothers-in-law, Henri Rozen and Ralph Reiger; his sisters-in-law, Mary Bodnaryk, Rita (Bill) Appel, Elsie (Reinhold) Gelowitz and Connie Rubletz and by many nieces, nephews and countless friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 am from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Yorkton, with Very Reverend Father Mel Slashinsky serving as the Celebrant. Jason E. Kopan served as the Cantor with Delmer Polowick serving as the cross bearer. The interment followed in the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Parish Cemetery (Westbrook) with Ladner Polowick, Michael Pszedwoyski, Tom Mensink, Daryl Silzer, Dave Dareichuk, Howard Bodnarik and Yaroslav Morgotch serving as the pall bearers.
