Patricia (Pattey) wife of Jack and mother of Brandey passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011, surrounded by family. She had fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. Pattey was born January 12, 1960 in Estevan to her loving parents Jim and Marion Rupert. She attended elementary and high school in Estevan; and furthered her education at the University of Saskatchewan, where she achieved her Degree in Agriculture and then furthered her education achieving her Masters of Science (Agricultural Economics). It was here that she met her future husband Jack; and on October 30, 1993, they were united in marriage at Kenosee Lake. Pattey worked for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance and made a transition to Saskatchewan Wheat Pool as a Research Analyst, prior to starting her family. After the birth of her daughter, Brandey, her focus shifted to that firstly of "motherhood" and secondly to farming. Pattey was not the conventional farm "woman", she was the "farmer". Her love of the outdoors included her cattle at the farm; as well as three very special companions: Ms. Badger, Mitzee, and the recent addition of Nnala. Pattey was a very visibly prominent figure in her daughter's life. You could find her at all of her sporting events and music functions. She rarely missed an event and would capture the special moments with her photography. Organization was key to her success, if it wasn't written in her "Black Book" - it was not of importance! Pattey was predeceased by her father Jim. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her husband Jack, daughter Brandey; her mother Marion of Whitewood; her in-laws Harry and Kay Blahut of Yorkton and family who stood by her thru the good times and bad. Pattey will be sadly missed everyday and her life will be forever cherished. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, December 1 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Faye L. Greer of Westview United Church officiating. The organist, Shani Apland led in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "Those Hearts That We Have Treasured" and "In The Bulb There Is a Flower" Serving as urn bearers were Michael Dubnyk and Jim Blahut. The interment took place at the Yorkton City Cemetery. Memorial donations honouring Pattey's life may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Guardian Angel Animal Rescue.
