Fred

Frederick Wilhelm, November 11, 1924 - January 5, 2018, aged 93 years entered eternal rest at the Yorkton Crossing Retirement Complex. Fred was born at the family farm in the Zorra district. The fourth child of Frederick and Karolina (nee Miller) Baumung. He was raised on the farm and received his education at Zorra School. While playing ball against the neighbouring school he met the love of his life. He was united in holy matrimony to Irma Fatteicher on November 15, 1951. They started farming in the Zorra district and in 1957 moved to Togo. They worked hard together to build a family farm that included a meticulously groomed yard with hundreds of hand planted trees. He was very proud of this farm, yard and most of all his family. Fred enjoyed curling, golfing, playing cards and was very community minded serving on the Credit Union Board for 30 years. His faith was very important, attending Zorra church regularly and serving on various committees. He loved music and would often sing while Irma played the organ at home. His life/their life changed suddenly on July 2, 2017 when Irma had a stroke and Fred had a heart attack on that same day. During the last 6 months as they recovered together the only thing that mattered to Fred was that he was with his beloved Irma. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Irma, three children, Diane (Glen Horvath), June (Kelly) Richter and Darwin (Julie). Five grandchildren: Derek (Jasmin) Richter, Brett Richter, Stefanie (Nolan) Nykolaishen, Lisa (Donavin) Baumung and Gary Baumung. Four great-grandchildren: Mason and Hayley Nykolaishen, Jake and Tess Richter. Also survived by sisters, Elsie Maguire, Ellen Baumung, brothers, George and Art and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brother, Ed and sister, Minnie Deederly, brother-in-laws, Harvey Maguire, Richard Fatteicher and his wife, Helen, Harold Fatteicher and his wife, Jean, Elmer Fatteicher and his wife, Irene and also nephew, Dale Maguire. Funeral Service was held January 10, 2018 from Zorra Grace Lutheran Church, Zorra with Pastor Barry Wood officiating. Fred was laid to rest at the Zorra Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Zorra. Those who so desire, may make memorial donations to the Lutheran Hour or to the Zorra Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, as gifts of remembrance.
