It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth Elsie Adie. Elizabeth passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. She was 97 years of age. Elizabeth was born on November 23, 1914 on her parent's farm in the Cupar district of Saskatchewan; the fifth of seven children born to Frances (nee Hopkins) and David Reed. She completed her education in Cupar and helped out family members until her marriage to Alan Adie on June 8, 1940. They made their home in the Danbury district north of Norquay, SK, and farmed there until 1960, at which time they moved to Kamsack. In 1965 the couple moved to Yorkton where Alan was employed at the hospital. Elizabeth shared 45 happy years with Alan prior to his passing on October 13, 1985. She remained in her own home in Yorkton until June 2010. She then relocated to Saskatoon, where she resided until her passing. Besides her husband Alan, she was predeceased by her parents David and Frances Reed, and six siblings. She will be remembered with the utmost of love and respect by her daughter Eleanor Elliott of Saskatoon; son Bruce (Pat) Adie of Yorkton; special niece Ruth Beaulieu of Courtenay, BC; grandchildren: Karen (Sean) Anderson & Lori (Alan) Majer, all of Toronto; Rhonda (Steve) Schlosser and Kevin Adie, all of Regina. Great-grandchildren: Austin and Kendra Schlosser, Joseph and Isaac Anderson, Claire and Samuel Majer. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Friday afternoon, January 13, 2012 from the Knox Presbyterian Church in Yorkton with Rev. Devon Pattemore officiating. Dianne Carey gave the eulogy. Organist, Jean Schappert led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'The Lord's My Shepherd', 'Abide With Me', and 'Jesus Loves Me'. Piper, Fern Katzberg piped the procession from church and at the cemetery. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Mark at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Brian Buchinski, Elmer Matisho, Dave Gillard, Kevin Adie, Steve Schlosser and Garvin Carey serving as the casketbearers.
