PREECEVILLE - The Burger Beast Grill and Dairy Bar has taken the Town of Preeceville and surrounding areas by storm as they opened for business on June 1. Co-owners Kyle Bileski and Amber Bartch each have strong roots in both Preeceville and Sturgis through family and friendships built over the years.
Owning and operating a food-related business has always been a dream for Bartch. “I love cooking and baking and have always wanted to share my passion with others,” she said.
The couple was originally looking at a purchasing a food truck and spending their summer traveling around to the lakes in the local areas. But when the opportunity came up to purchase a trailer that had been used by the previous local owner for a summer kitchen, they jumped at it. The concept for the Burger Beast quickly became a reality but was not without its own set of challenges that included getting the trailer moved to Preeceville.
“It was a diamond-in-the-rough that we saw great potential in, but we definitely were faced with some obstacle and challenges getting it set up and ready for serving the public. The first obstacle was getting it home. We had some mechanical issues and flat tires before we got it here. The real work began of completely overhauling the interior and exterior. It took a while but through the support of local contractors, the Town of Preeceville who were very helpful in our proposal for the vacant lot, local businesses, and the community we opened for business on June 1,” said Amber.
“We really wanted to offer something affordable for the whole family from students to seniors. The location downtown has really been a blessing that has allowed us a prime location to offer that service. We still have little things that we discovered that need addressing but remain optimistic that we can quickly fix these little things and grow as a business,”
The business offers homemade burgers, specialty poutines, wraps, and a variety of soft and hard ice creams, with a special tailor-made Twisted Monkey, along with sundaes and milkshakes all at a very affordable price. They are open seven days a week and are fully staffed with a dedicated qualified staff.
In the near future Bartch would like to change up the menu with adding homemade pies and a monthly special lunch. She carries gluten-free burgers and buns. They would also like to eventually upgrade the soft ice cream machine and possible add on in the new future. The picnic area offers a quaint spot for families to sit down and enjoy visiting over a cup of homemade lemonade or a favorite ice cream treat. Bartch would like to remind everyone that they can place their orders through the phone for easier and quicker service.
“The first day we were open was a little overwhelming with all the support from the community. It was so great to see everyone and we are hopeful that business remains brisk for the entire summer,” concluded Amber.
