PREECEVILLE - Children in the local area are enjoying the outdoor challenge of looking for stories in a fun setting.

A story walk is an unconventional, wonderful way for children of all ages to spend time outdoors whilst reading a book. The activity was geared towards promoting reading and physical activity during literacy week.

The Preeceville School sponsored the activity which had children searching and reading pages from a children’s story that were individually torn out and laminated, then positioned throughout an outdoor area for children and adults to find and enjoy.

Preeceville families had the opportunity to walk Preeceville Lion's Family Trail in the daytime or at night to enjoy The Coach Potato as solar lights were fastened to the wooden stakes that held up the book pages. “The book is part of a food group series that is full of puns and great lessons,” said Leslea Hanson, coordinator.

Families who participated were able to take in an interactive learning experience, improve literacy skills, and spend quality time outdoors with loved ones.

A second walk had children discovering and reading pages from the book, Sneezy, the Snowman. Pages from the book were displayed in Preeceville down town business windows.
