Culture days showcases Preeceville's diversity

Many cultures were represented at Preeceville's culture day.

PREECEVILLE — The Town of Preeceville held a one-day fun culture day that acknowledged many different ethnic groups that makes Preeceville a very diverse community.

The culture day was held at the Preeceville Community Legion Hall Oct. 6.

Cultures represented included: Irish, Ukrainian, Filipino, Jamaican, Mexican and Scottish. The Preeceville and District Heritage Museum featured a booth with selected heritage artifacts, and the Preeceville Art Group showcased talented local artists. They also had Pysanky cookies to decorate and enjoy.

The Filipino and Jamaica communities hosted a lunch made available to purchase for everyone in attendance.

The Ukrainian Dance Club performed several solo dances and explained the history of Ukraine and the dress costumes.

Maureen Johnson showcased her special hand made quilts. She also displayed some artwork at the Preeceville Art Group booth. Other artists showcased were, Laureen Johnson, Vicky Peet and Judy Bjornstad.

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of free participatory arts and culture events across the country both in-person and online.
