BEECHY - The village of Beechy is looking for a little bit of a facelift when it comes to welcoming both residents and visitors to the community.

Known for its popular yearly rodeo as well as the nearby sand castles and sunken hill formations located just a few miles southwest of the village, Beechy's local council is holding a contest that's looking for someone to create a new village sign.

With the desired goal to update the signage located at the corner of Railway Avenue and Highway 342 in the village, Council is looking for new designs that "should reflect the values, spirit, community and history of the village", according to the contest's information, and as the first thing that visitors will see when entering Beechy, organizers hope the new design is welcoming and represents community pride.

The winning design, with a prize to be determined, will end up being used on the Village of Beechy website, as well as on social media, posters, and letterhead. The physical copy of the new sign will be a metal stencil cut, with the winning design displayed on a powder coat black metal. It's being said that any submission is welcome to have colors in their design, but creators should keep in mind that the sign itself will be one unanimous color of powder coat black sheet metal when completed, so those looking to enter the contest should keep this in mind.

Full contest details and rules are available at Beechy.ca and on the village's official Facebook page.
