Saskatchewan Summer Games sees local athletes compete

Athletes from Outlook and Beechy took part in the summertime competition.

OUTLOOK - The 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games, which recently wrapped up in Lloydminster, saw a number of local young athletes take part in the event.

Participating in a number of competitions over the July 21-27 event, the Games saw six days, 14 sports and close to 2000 athletes battling for medals all along the way.

A portion of those athletes helped make up the Prairie Central team, and included a number of locals.

Athletes from the local area included those from Outlook, including Reise Dolan, Alyssa Follick, Camryn Nelson, and Sarah Leverton in Athletics; and Gavin Shepherd in Volleyball. Another local from around the region included Owen Odermatt from Beechy, who played baseball.

Leverton and Dolan, competing in track and field events, brought home some hardware as Sarah won gold in long jump and silver in the 100 & 200 m races. Meanwhile, Reise captured the silver in shot put and came in 4th in the discus throw.
