Renovations bring Bounty Theatre into a new age

New washrooms and kitchenette among the new additions to the legendary venue in Outlook.

OUTLOOK - Extensive renovations and modifications carried out recently have done wonders when it comes to bringing the iconic Bounty Theatre venue into a new modern age.

A tour of the facility was provided by Kate King, manager of the Outlook & District Heritage Museum. Having not been in the facility since last fall, the experience was an eye-opener for this reporter. New lighting, new electrical, new tables and chairs, refurbished floors, and the installation of both a new kitchenette and two new bathrooms are some of the things that have added to the proverbial facelift of the building.

King credits the work of volunteers who have dedicated hours of their time to bring the venue up to this stage, as well as the Town of Outlook for its support in helping to realize the potential of the hall. Specifically, King highlighted the expertise and work ethic of Loren Blosky as being just one of the driving forces behind the hall being rejuvenated, with the continuous work of many community champions still helping to update the venue wherever needed.

As well, the generosity of people such as Gordon Silverthorn, who recently bestowed a gift of $20,000 to the hall in order to purchase new tables and chairs, has also been a huge factor in bringing the hall into the new age.

With events scheduled inside the Bounty Theatre later this spring and in the summertime, including during the upcoming Prairie Festival in the last weekend of May and during the River n' Rail ArtVenture weekend in June, it certainly seems as if the legendary music hall has come into its own as an available performance venue in the riverside community.
